There is little momentum in the seven-day incidence in Germany. The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) gave the value of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants and week on Tuesday morning with 65.8. For comparison, the previous day the value had been 66.5, and a week ago 63.6 (previous month: 80.2). Health offices in Germany reported 4971 new Corona infections to the RKI within one day. This is according to figures reflecting the status of the RKI dashboard as of 04:19. A week ago, the figure had been 4799 infections.

According to the new data, 88 deaths were recorded throughout Germany within 24 hours. A week ago, there had been 90 deaths. The RKI counted 4,318,355 proven infections with Sars-CoV-2 since the beginning of the pandemic. The actual total number is likely to be significantly higher, as many infections are not detected.

According to the federal government, the proportion of vaccinated Corona patients in intensive care units has increased. Based on data from the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), the Federal Ministry of Health registered 1186 Corona cases that required "intensive care" in the weeks from mid-August to early September, Funke Mediengruppe newspapers reported in their Tuesday editions. Of the patients, 119 people were vaccinated, in 10.03 percent of the cases there was apparently a vaccination breakthrough, the ministry says in an answer to a question from the Left Party in the Bundestag, from which the newspapers quote.

In a longer period from early February to early September, the proportion of intensive Corona patients vaccinated was still 1.84 percent, he said. "That more vaccine breakthroughs will be recorded overtime is expected, given that more people are vaccinated in general and that SARS-CoV-2 is currently spreading again at an increased rate. This increases the likelihood of coming into contact with the virus as a fully vaccinated person," the RKI explains.

The number of corona patients admitted to hospitals per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days - the most important parameter for a possible tightening of corona restrictions - was given by the RKI on Monday at 1.58 (Friday: 1.67). A nationwide threshold for when the situation becomes critical is not provided for hospitalization incidence, in part because of large regional differences. The previous maximum value was around 15.5 around Christmas time.

The RKI gave the number of people who recovered as 4,106,300. The number of people who died from or with the involvement of confirmed infection with Sars-CoV-2 rose to 94,297.
