Bavaria's industrial production fell by 7.6 percent, according to data that has recently been released. Production of so-called intermediate goods such as chemicals was the industry that suffered the most. The State Office of Statistics announced on Wednesday that this year's production rate is 10.9 percent below the previous year's figures. For durable goods, the decline was reported to be 9.5 percent, which was a 4.6 percent drop in the production of capital goods. As a comparison, there has been only a fall of 3.8 percent in the consumer goods industry.

Despite this reported drop in production rates, Bavaria remains one of Germany's most economically secure states, and Munich continues a model of stability for German industry.
