Key Dates for FGTS Anniversary Withdrawals in 2025
In 2025, registered workers with funds in their FGTS accounts will have the opportunity to withdraw part of their balance during their birthday month. This option, available since 2020, is optional and can be reverted to the traditional termination withdrawal through the FGTS app, provided no advance payment has been contracted.
Below is the complete schedule for the anniversary withdrawal benefit throughout 2025:
- January: January 2 to March 31, 2025
- February: February 3 to April 30, 2025
- March: March 3 to May 30, 2025
- April: April 1 to June 30, 2025
- May: May 2 to July 31, 2025
- June: June 2 to August 29, 2025
- July: July 1 to September 30, 2025
- August: August 1 to October 31, 2025
- September: September 1 to November 28, 2025
- October: October 1 to December 30, 2025
- November: November 3, 2025, to January 30, 2026
- December: December 1, 2025, to February 27, 2026
The amount that can be withdrawn annually from the FGTS is subject to a cap based on a percentage of the total balance, alongside a fixed additional payment. For instance, a worker with a total of R$ 5,000 in their FGTS account can withdraw 30% of that amount, equating to R$ 1,500, plus an additional R$ 150, resulting in a total of R$ 1,650 available during their birthday month.
Withdrawals can be made at various banks that share the same account ownership, and if the withdrawal is not executed within the designated timeframe, the funds will be credited back to the FGTS account.
Eligibility for the anniversary withdrawal is available to all registered workers with active FGTS accounts. Those who do not select this option will default to the standard termination withdrawal method. Importantly, workers utilizing the anniversary withdrawal option still retain the right to the 40% penalty paid by employers in the case of unjust dismissal. This penalty corresponds only to the amount contributed by the last employer during the worker's tenure.
To opt for the anniversary withdrawal, workers can use the FGTS app, the FGTS website, Caixa's Internet Banking, or visit a Caixa Econômica Federal branch. Through these channels, individuals can also verify if their benefit is active and available for withdrawal by using their CPF numbers. Registration for the annual FGTS benefit must be completed by the last day of the worker's birth month to receive the funds within the same year. Any registrations made after this point will result in a delay until the following year.
Additionally, the advance on the anniversary withdrawal provides a loan option through Caixa, allowing individuals to receive up to five installments of their anniversary withdrawal in advance. The FGTS balance serves as collateral for this loan, with repayments automatically deducted from the fund. To qualify for this advance, individuals must meet certain criteria, including having no restrictions on their CPF, having a balance in their FGTS account, and being registered for the anniversary withdrawal. There is also a minimum loan value of R$ 500, with each installment requiring a minimum of R$ 200.
