Mega-Sena Lottery Offers R$ 3.5 Million Jackpot This Saturday

The Caixa Econômica Federal is set to hold the first Mega-Sena lottery draw of 2025 on Saturday, January 4, with an estimated prize of R$ 3.5 million. This comes after the record-breaking payouts from the previous Mega da Virada draw.

The draw will take place at 8 PM at the Espaço da Sorte, located on Avenida Paulista, and will be broadcast live on Caixa's social media platforms.

How to Participate

Participants interested in trying their luck can submit their bets until 7 PM on the day of the draw. Bets can be placed at any authorized lottery outlet, through the Caixa website, or via their mobile app. A basic ticket, which allows players to choose six numbers, costs R$ 5.

For online bets, the minimum amount required is R$ 30, whether for a single ticket or multiple entries. To increase the chances of winning, players can opt for a ticket with seven numbers, priced at R$ 31.50. Alternatively, players can place seven individual bets to reach the same total cost.

Group Betting Options

In addition to individual bets, players can participate in a group betting system known as a bolão. This allows a group to collectively choose numbers, and each participant receives a receipt confirming their share of the bet. The minimum cost for a bolão is R$ 10, and each share must be at least R$ 5, with a maximum of 100 shares allowed.

Lottery outlets also offer pre-organized bolões, where players can request a specific number of shares and must keep their receipts to check their numbers on draw day. Note that an additional service fee of up to 35% may be applied at the discretion of the lottery outlet.

Prize Distribution

The total prize pool is determined by 43.35% of the total ticket sales. From this amount, 35% is allocated to those who correctly guess all six drawn numbers (Sena), while 19% goes to those who match five numbers (Quina) and another 19% is for those who match four numbers (Quadra). Additionally, 22% of the funds are reserved for future draws, specifically for draws ending in 0 or 5, and 5% is set aside for the Mega da Virada, the year-end lottery event.

If no one wins in any of the categories, the amounts will carry over to the next draw. Winners must claim their prizes within 90 days of the draw date; otherwise, the money will be transferred to the National Treasury for educational funding.

Additional Information

As 2025 progresses, other financial regulations are coming into play, including new requirements for banks regarding Pix transactions aimed at preventing fraud. Stay tuned for more updates on these financial changes.
