On January 20, 2025, newly inaugurated President Donald Trump is set to swiftly implement a range of executive actions focusing on immigration, energy policy, and federal government operations. This marks a significant return to the White House for Trump after a four-year absence.
In a bold move, Trump has indicated plans to issue approximately 100 executive orders on his first day in office, many of which aim to reverse policies enacted by the previous administration under President Biden.
Stephen Miller, who will serve as Trump's deputy chief of staff for policy, outlined some of these initiatives during a call with senior Republican lawmakers. Among the priorities is a comprehensive immigration strategy, which includes invoking a national emergency at the southern border to unlock Department of Defense funds for government use.
As part of his immigration agenda, Trump intends to designate several drug cartels as foreign terrorist organizations. Additionally, he plans to reinstate a controversial policy known as the Migrant Protection Protocols, commonly referred to as "Remain in Mexico."
In efforts to reshape the federal government, Trump will sign orders that dismantle diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives that were put in place by his predecessor. Furthermore, he aims to eliminate certain gender-related executive orders established during Biden's administration.
One of the significant executive orders expected to be signed is known as Schedule F. This order would restrict or eliminate job protections for federal employees, signaling a shift in how government jobs are managed and evaluated.
Trump's return to the presidency is anticipated to have a profound impact on U.S. policies across various sectors, especially as he seeks to fulfill campaign promises that resonated with his base during the election.
