A recent study conducted by Paraná Pesquisas reveals that 41.5% of Brazilians feel their financial situation has remained unchanged since Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva took office as president. The survey, which sampled over 2,000 respondents across 164 municipalities within 26 states and the Federal District, indicates a slight decline in optimism regarding personal finances compared to the previous year, when 45% of participants shared this sentiment.
According to the latest data from January 2025, 33.2% of those surveyed believe their financial situation has worsened, while only 23.9% perceive an improvement. A mere 1.4% of respondents either did not know or chose not to express an opinion on the matter.
The survey, conducted between January 7 and January 10, 2025, has a margin of error of 2.2 percentage points and a confidence level of 95%. Respondents were asked how their financial circumstances, both personally and for their families, have changed since Lula's return to the presidency.
Specifically, the survey results were as follows:
- Improved: 23.9%
- Remained the same: 41.5%
- Worsened: 33.2%
- No opinion: 1.4%
When comparing the current findings to data from January 2024, there is a noticeable decrease in the percentage of people who believe their financial situation has improved, dropping from 26.8% to 23.9%. Conversely, the proportion of respondents indicating that their financial situation has worsened has increased from 25.5% to 33.2% in the same time frame. This trend suggests a growing concern among the populace regarding their economic well-being under the current administration.
The study also highlights the prevailing sentiment regarding government policies and their impact on individual financial circumstances. As Brazil navigates various economic challenges, the perception of financial stability among citizens remains a critical area of focus for policymakers and political analysts alike.
